The description:

The Hearing Services Program Review Panel has provided interim advice to the Australian Government on the implementation of the Government’s changes to the Hearing Services Program voucher scheme, announced in the 2020-21 Budget. Changes included extending the voucher period to 5 years, removing the maintenance payment from the 12-month warranty period, and replacing the annual upfront maintenance payment with quarterly upfront payments.

This draft advice assesses the potential impacts of implementation and proposes 3 policy approaches that could be applied during the implementation period. Each approach aims to support continued consumer access to the voucher system by maintaining a viable supplier sector. The analysis includes impacts on consumers and providers in rural and remote areas.

The committee submitted its final report to the minister in August 2021.
